Making sure the created jewelry piece actually fits is oh so important! Particularly with Necklaces, Anklets, and Bracelets. Typical pieces sold in well-known stores are made in average & standard sizes. Many of us do not fit into the standard sizes – we may be smaller or larger than the average size. If the Jewelry Piece is for yourself or intended as a gift, and it is important that the piece fits properly, then this is the BLOG for you!
Keep reading for Tips & Tricks on how to measure accurately for the Jewelry Creation to fit exactly!

The wrist has 2 prominent bones – the INNER bone and the OUTER bone – most easily seen on the front view of the wrist. To measure for a properly-fitting bracelet, wrap a soft measuring tape across the Inner and Outer wrist bones ensuring the measuring tape crosses on the inside of the wrist. For a close-fitting bracelet, add ½”. For a looser fit, add 1”. Remember to include Jump Rings & Clasp in final bracelet length.
Measuring for the correct necklace size totally depends on the type/length of necklace being created. As illustrated in the ‘Necklace Size Types’ diagram above, the finished length depends on the type of necklace being designed. Whichever style being chosen, wrap a soft measuring tape around the desired length, ensuring the measuring tape crosses at the appropriate point.

The Ankle also has two prominent bones - the INNER bone and the OUTER bone- most easily seen on the front view of the ankle. To measure for a properly-fitting anklet, wrap a soft measuring tape across the Inner and Outer ankle bones ensuring the measuring tape crosses on the outside of the ankle. For anklet to fall ABOVE the ankle bones, subtract ½”. For an anklet to fall BELOW the ankle bones, add 1”. Remember to include Jump Rings & Clasp in anklet length.

If the exact measurement for a jewelry piece is not possible to obtain, the Standard Measurement Chart offers average size recommendations for a Necklace, Choker, Bracelet & Anklet for Women, Men, Plus Sizes, Kids & Babies. This is intended as a Guide to help you make your jewelry piece with the correct size. Ensuring a finished piece of jewelry will actually fit the intended recipient is so important. Particularly when you have spent so much time choosing beads, designing and actually producing the finished creation! Always take the time – this is a must – to confirm that the piece being created will actually fit!
